A 2006 graduate of Clark University, Hana Lasell is an artist and communications professional with a background that spans the nonprofit, publishing, art, education, and journalism spaces. It was while working her first career out of college at Davis Publications—a family-owned art education publisher in Worcester, MA—where she discovered and developed her passion for visual communication and strategic marketing, emerging as a skilled graphic designer, project manager, and leader by the end of her 10-year tenure there. While at Davis Publications, Hana had the distinction of becoming the first woman of color to be promoted to the role of Managing Editor in the company’s 100+ year history. Resolving to follow her passion for social justice and bring more meaning to her career, Hana next joined the YWCA Central Massachusetts as Associate Director of Marketing and Development, where she played an important role in the development and of the organization’s Racial and Gender Equity, Domestic Violence Services, Health and Wellness, Youth Development, and Childcare programs. During her time at the YWCA she sat on the organization’s Stand Against Racism planning committee and still sits on its Racial and Gender Equity committee.

A tireless advocate for civil rights, Hana serves as Marketing and Communications Co-Lead for the Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition (MAWOCC), and in the past sat on the Board of Directors for the League of Women Voters of the Worcester Area. In July of 2020 Hana was invited to paint the ‘M’ in the iconic Black Lives Matter street mural in downtown Worcester, after which she and her fellow artists were awarded keys to the City by Mayor Joseph M. Petty for their participation in the project. Hana has also spent time volunteering with the YWCA, MAWOCC, Cape CARES, the United Way of Central Massachusetts, and the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts (GSCWM). In 2018 Hana and her troop co-leader were awarded the Volunteer Excellence award by GSCWM.

A native of Brighton, Colorado, Hana loves spending time outdoors enjoying nature with her family, traveling to her favorite warm-weather eco-destinations, and eating all kinds of foods. In her spare time she makes and sells digital and mixed-media art, gardens, and spends time with her family and their menagerie of pets.
