After years of seeking financial security, Sandra Pace decided to launch a graphic design business that would hopefully provide her with a steady source of income while also utilizing her creativity. In 1998, Sandra left Virginia and relocated to Boston, moving in with family to save money for her new business idea. Unemployed but optimistic about her future, Sandra turned to the Center for Women & Enterprise for business guidance.

With encouragement from CWE, Sandra finished college and then enrolled in CWE’s Community Entrepreneurs Program. With CWE, Sandra completed a detailed business plan, developed tangible business goals, and opened checking and credit accounts. Today, Sandra has a growing part-time graphic design business, which comprises 50% of her total income and allows Sandra to support herself. Sandra has also increased her savings by 25% and decreased her debt 25% since first coming to CWE. In 2003, Sandra anticipates being able to double her revenues and turn her part-time venture into a full-time business.
