Brooks, the 2001 founder and former President of Inside Cable, Inc..
With nearly 32 years of foundational corporate and entrepreneurial executive business experience, Brooks began his formal business career back in 1986, with the NYNEX Corporation. A seasoned Bell-System trained Project Executive and Design Engineer, he has been involved on the ground level of a host of major telephony deployment projects Nationwide, including the management and build-out of numerous Fiber Optic, Wireless and Wireline Networks, Wide Area SONET Node Deployments, and Inside Plant Transmission and Data Center Room Layout and Design projects. Throughout his career, Brooks has worked closely with major global carriers such as Verizon Communications, WinStar Communications, Teligent Corporation, AT&T Corporation, TCG Corporation, MCI/WorldCom and Cablevision/Optimum Lightpath Corporation.
Brooks and Inside Cable led a team in 2004 to manage, build and deploy all administrative Tel/Data/Security infrastructure for the Democratic National Convention in Boston, MA. In 2008, Brooks authored an editorial, distributed globally in the Passenger Terminal World Annual Review -- covering the utilization of Fiber Optic technology within Airport environments.
Brooks has also been directly involved in several Global Trade efforts – notably including a 2008 business mission to London, and a 2011 business mission to South Africa, both with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). He served as a US business delegate for diverse business opportunities in conjunction with both the 2012 Olympics, and also to further explore the US trade implications of the recent modification of the South African B-BBEE Scorecard Legislation, respectively. Additionally, Brooks recently returned from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, UAE, exploring additional business expansion opportunities in the Gulf Region of the Middle East.
A heavy proponent of the proliferation of high-speed technology within unserved and underserved markets, Brooks was recently named in 2009 by Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and the U.S. Department of Commerce, as an Expert Reviewer, for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Broadband Stimulus Program.
As a small business advocate, Brooks remains actively involved in several key initiatives addressing fairness and equality for socially and economically disadvantaged businesses, and has recently worked very closely as Special Consultant with both the Small Business Development Center of Massachusetts, and the University of Massachusetts-Boston, to help address some key areas of the Federal and State Statutes, in order to further enhance diverse business participation.
Brooks has sat on several Boards, including The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Small Business Assistance Advisory Council, and the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council. Brooks also serves as Massachusetts State Chairperson, for the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College’s Minority Business Executive Certificate Program.
Brooks holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Tufts University, and is a Dean’s List Graduate from Vanderbilt University where he received his JD Degree, during which he authored two Doctoral Theses -- including A Model for Competitive Pricing within the Telecommunications Industry.
Having previously founded and run a quite successful Certified MWBE Small Business for nearly (15) Years, I now possess very invaluable Enterprise Growth and ‘Business Lifecycle’ Learning Lessons, and Tangible Experiences to share – and, to strategically contribute in earnest support of the CWE Mission, and its aspiring Client Base. The phrase “Once an Entrepreneur, Always an Entrepreneur” rings quite true for me; for in my current Lead Role at Comcast Business, I continue to bring forth a robust Entrepreneurial Spirit to work with me, each and every day!
